IP Pages 2018: China country introduction
Total applications
The first table represents the total number of patent applications filed in China by the given firms between approximately September 2014 and August 2017. We can see that Billion Intellectual Property Office filed the largest number of applications in the period, followed by Unitalen and China Patent Agent.
PCT applications
Next we have a table covering PCT applications published up to the August 27, 2017 where the priority date is on or after May 27, 2015. Clearly far fewer such applications have been filed, but this time AFD China IP Law Office is top, followed by Kangxin.
Referrals
Finally, we have a table that gives an indication of which firms received the largest number of referrals in the jurisdiction. That is, the number of applications filed by the given firm between the approximate period of September 2014 and August 2017, where the firm was not responsible for the originating application (in the case of national phase entry and Paris Convention applications), and where that originating application was received from Germany, Canada, US, Japan, UK, Spain, Italy, France or Korea. China Patent Agent is out in front for referrals.
The data are taken from publicly available sources – due to delays in some publications, the numbers may be less than the actual numbers of applications filed.
