Gunderson Dettmer elevates two IP attorneys

Gunderson Dettmer has promoted two IP attorneys to the partnership, effective January 1, 2019.

Aaron Fiske, based in Silicon Valley, represents emerging growth technology companies and venture capitalists. He advises them on commercialising and protecting IP and technology assets, as well as licensing transactions, strategic alliances, and corporate partnering.

As a former software engineer, Fiske has particular expertise in technology-related legal matters, including those relating to software and licensing.

In San Diego, Brendan McCarthy has joined the partnership. He arranges strategic alliances, licensing, and commercial matters for clients, and has represented or opposed brands including Apple, Cisco, GE, Samsung, Takeda, and Abbott Laboratories in negotiations.

McCarthy has assisted research institutions in arranging licensing, pre-clinical, and clinical arrangements, and he has also represented venture capital funds and institutional investors.

In addition to the two IP lawyers, the firm promoted three corporate and securities attorneys to the partnership.

Robert Gunderson, chairman of Gunderson Dettmer, said: “We are delighted to add these five exceptional lawyers to the partnership. Over their years with the firm, they have contributed to our continued growth by providing consistently exemplary service and guidance to our company and fund clients.”
