US Department of Justice litigator rejoins Finnegan
Firm welcomes back experienced DoJ trial attorney | Litigator has managed cases before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Court of Federal Claims, and Court of International Trade.
Finnegan has welcomed back former US Department of Justice (DOJ) trial attorney Dan Roland to the partnership.
Roland, who was the DoJ’s lead counsel in the Civil Division, National Courts Section, began his legal career at Finnegan as a summer associate, before shifting his practice to the public sector, where he managed all aspects of cases before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Court of Federal Claims, and Court of International Trade.
“It is always a pleasure to welcome alumni back to the firm,” said Finnegan’s managing partner, Erika Arner. “Dan’s expanded litigation experience amplified by his time at the DOJ will be a great asset to Finnegan.”
A former patent examiner, Roland has extensive experience before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), prosecuting patent applications and participating in post-grant proceedings.
Earlier in his career, Roland focused on mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies, covering all aspects of litigation from pre-suit investigations through to trial. This expanded to handling veterans cases, contract disputes, bid protests, fair labour standards act cases, anti-dumping, and MSPB cases.
Roland also previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alvin Schall at the Federal Circuit.
