Trethowans appoints specialist IP partner to its TMT team

Ex-practice leader at Paris Smith brings IP lifecycle expertise to southern England.

UK firm Trethowans has appointed Laura Trapnell as a specialist IP partner in its technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) and IP team.

Trapnell, who will be based in the south of England, previously served as a partner, leading the commercial and IP/IT team at Paris Smith for several years.

Trapnell's practice includes a broad range of IP and tech law matters, catering to multinational corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and individuals.

She provides counsel on the lifecycle of IP assets, from creation to disposal and exit, including ownership issues, IP audits, strategic planning, protection and exploitation, and enforcement.

Heading the Trethowans technology team is partner Julian Hamblin who described Trapnell as “prominent and highly regarded”.

“With 25 years' experience, she brings invaluable expertise to our growing team. We are delighted to welcome Laura to the firm," he added.

In response to her appointment, Trapnell recognised the team and Hamblin for “handling cutting-edge matters in the TMT sector”.

“I look forward to complementing the team with my own expertise in IP and technology law," she continued.
