New president of Federal Circuit Bar Assoc begins term
The pharmaceuticals and life sciences partner will serve a one-year term as leader of the organisation.
Knobbe Martens partner Joseph Reisman has been named as president of the US Federal Circuit Bar Association (FCBA).
Reisman, who specialises in pharmaceuticals and life sciences fields, began his one-year term on July 1 following several years of service on the FCBA’s board of directors, including serving in various officer roles since 2019.
He has also served for two decades as an adjunct professor of patent law at the University of San Diego, School of Law.
The organisation for the bar of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, unites different groups who practice within the legal community, including adjudicators from the Federal Circuit, US government, and district courts, private practitioners, and corporate lawyers, both in the US and globally.
“Joe is a visionary and a highly-respected leader within the Federal Circuit community,” said FCBA executive director Deborah Miron.
“In addition to serving as FCBA executive officer and member of the Board of Directors, Joe also very ably served as chair of the association’s amicus and scholarship committees.
“We are very fortunate to welcome Joe as FCBA president this year to lead this great organisation forward.”
Commenting on his appointment to the FCBA presidency, Reisman said, “For nearly four decades, the FCBA has been the preeminent organisation for members of the Federal Circuit bar.
“During this time, the association has served as a pivotal voice in supporting and strengthening the court through advocacy and education. It is truly an honour to serve in a leadership role and help the FCBA advance its mission.
“I look forward to continuing the strong legacy of leadership developed by prior association presidents, and embrace this wonderful opportunity.”
The FCBA seeks to strengthen and serve the court through its committees, which work to “improve and facilitate the administration of justice through open and inclusive dialogue on emerging issues with thought leaders” in the subject areas of the court’s jurisdiction, and offer a forum for “common concerns and dialogue between the bench and bar” via its regional programmes, webinars, flagship bench and Bench & Bar Conference, and Global Series sessions”, said the organisation in a press release.
