ITMA elects new president
The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) has elected Kate O’Rourke as its new president.
O’Rourke is a solicitor at law firm Charles Russell Speechlys, where she leads its trademark and design registration team.
She was voted in unanimously at ITMA’s council meeting held yesterday, April 19, the organisation reported.
The president has responsibility for ITMA’s policy and direction and its liaisons with the UK Intellectual Property Office, the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Chris McLeod, who has been president for the last two years, will remain as an ITMA council member and as immediate past president.
O’Rourke said: “Over the next two years I aim to increase the profile of the institute internationally and to work closely with our colleagues at the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and the Intellectual Property Regulation Board to ensure that our regulation is effective and proportionate and delivers outcomes that align with our ambitions.”
