Haynes & Boone buys Mavrakakis Law Group
Law firm Haynes & Boone has bought intellectual property boutique firm Mavrakakis Law Group.
As part of the deal Mavrakakis Law Group’s four partners Tom Mavrakakis, Brian Kwok, Jim Shimota and Howard Levin will join Hayes & Boone’s Palo Alto and Chicago offices.
Mavrakakis has experience in patent litigation in technology industries including, mobile devices and gene targeting. Kwok focuses on patent counselling and litigation.
Both join the firm’s Palo Alto office.
Shimota specialises in post-issuance patent practice while Levin has experience in patent portfolio management.
They join the firm’s Chicago office.
David Harper, leader of the firm’s IP litigation section, said: “I think it is obvious that both our firms nurture a client-first focus and value a collaborative work environment, the match couldn’t be better.”
