Frederick Mostert joins Bird & Bird’s London IP team

IP heavyweight Frederick Mostert has joined international law firm Bird & Bird as of counsel in the London IP team.

Mostert is a past president of the International Trademark Association (INTA), and is currently the president of the Luxury Law Alliance.

He has also served as chief IP counsel and chief legal counsel of luxury group Richemont, which includes brands such as Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, Alfred Dunhill, and Chloé.

Jane Mutimear, partner, London IP department, said: “We’re so happy he’s agreed to work with us and we look forward to being able to share his insights into IP law with the international department and our clients.”

Mostert is a professor of Practice in IP law at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London, where he won the ‘Rising Star’ Teaching Excellence Award in 2018. He is also a research fellow at the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre, University of Oxford.

In 2015, he was inducted into the IP Hall of Fame, which honours those who have helped establish IP as a key business asset.

Frederick will be continuing with his academic career and is bringing his part-time consultancy practice over to Bird & Bird. He will also be available to advise clients on high-level strategic projects.
