Dickinson Wright adds five IP members and of counsel

Dickinson Wright has added five IP attorneys to its offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Silicon Valley, California.

Both Catherine Hoffman and Gregory Mayback join the Fort Lauderdale office as members, having previously been managing partners at Mayback & Hoffman.

Hoffman has 28 years of experience in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters relating to trademarks, copyright, and domain name issues.

She has assisted domestic and international clients from the private and public sectors in enforcement, opposition, and cancellation proceedings. Hoffman advises clients on portfolio management and unfair competition, too.

Mayback’s practice focuses on patent procurement in a variety of technology areas. He specialises in medical devices, but he also has expertise in electrical engineering, semiconductors, computer hardware and software, and telecommunications.

During his 26-year career, Mayback has participated in the issuance of more than 1,575 patents. He additionally counsels clients on trademark matters and IP due diligence.

James Stepan and Julia Dahlgard have also joined Dickinson Wright’s Fort Lauderdale office, as of counsel.

Stepan has nearly two decades of experience in IP, covering trademarks, patents, trade secrets, false advertising, licensing, copyright, and contractual matters.

He has represented clients in jury and bench trials, as well as in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.

Meanwhile, Dahlgard’s practice centres on trademark law with an emphasis on the prosecution, enforcement, and maintenance of US and international trademarks. She supports clients in enforcing their rights against infringement and counterfeiting.

With a background in mechanical engineering, Dahlgard also advises clients on matters relating to mechanisms, industrial designs, medical devices, and aerospace.

Finally, Rebecca Tie joins Dickinson Wright’s Silicon Valley office as an of counsel.

Tie’s work predominately focuses on the prosecution, enforcement and maintenance of large-scale patent portfolios comprising US and international patents, in the biomedical and electrical fields.

She has knowledge of other fields including electrical engineering, power generation, telecommunications, systems and control, microelectronics, and biomechanics.
