ArentFox Schiff scores sports partner in New York
The former co-head of Pryor Cashman’s sports group who represented basketball star Kevin Durant has switched to a new firm.
ArentFox Schiff has added Eric Fishman to the firm’s sports group in New York.
Fishman, who was previously a partner and co-head of the sports practice at Pryor Cashman, has counselled athletes and sports organisations on a range of high-profile matters, from corporate deals to strategic transactions and partnerships.
He advises clients on issues related to endorsement, licensing, sponsorship and branding deals, IP matters, non-fungible tokens and other monetisation strategies, financings and corporate matters, and dispute resolution.
He has represented a number of well-known athletes in the National Football League, professional football (soccer) leagues, and the National Basketball Association, including Kevin Durant, in business deals, marketing collaborations, and contractual disputes.
His clients in the sports and entertainment industry also include media networks, start-up brands, advertising agencies, celebrities, and artists.
Richard Brand, ArentFox Schiff’s San Francisco managing partner, said: “Eric’s ability to forge strategic partnerships in a fast-evolving sports business landscape will be a tremendous asset to our team and to our clients looking to maximise their success through cutting-edge monetisation tactics.
“As new technologies like NFTs and the metaverse continue to open up exciting pathways for clients in the sports and entertainment industry to capitalise on their fame, his deep knowledge of digital licensing will reinforce our already robust set of client service offerings.”
“His addition bolsters our strong and active sports and entertainment practice nationally across the firm’s New York, DC, San Francisco, Boston, Los Angeles, and Chicago offices. We are excited to welcome him aboard.”
In addition to his sports and entertainment practice, Fishman has nearly two decades of experience in corporate law and litigation.
