Merger prompts creation of Italian IP boutique

A new boutique IP firm, GR Legal, has been launched, specialising in IP and information technology law.

Founded by Luca Giove and Aurelio Richichi, the new venture is the result of the merger of Studio Legale Giove in Padua and R&R in Rome.

This merger is the “natural outcome of the longstanding cooperation between the two firms regarding both litigation and extrajudicial assistance in IP matters for national and international clients,” said a joint statement.

Giove and Richichi previously worked together in the IP department of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Milan.

Subsequently, Giove became senior lawyer at Bonelli Erede, while Richichi worked as senior associate in Barzanò & Zanardo law firm, before the pair left to create GR Legal.

“The new firm has a dozen professionals and will also have new offices in Milan, one of the major hotspots for IP litigation in Europe. The opening of the Milan office will allow us to meet an increasing demand of international clients for assistance in multijurisdictional litigations involving Italy,” said Giove and Richichi.
