Mathys & Squire adds partner to Munich office
Mathys & Squire has added a partner to its Munich office, which opened in July this year.
Andreas Wietzke, who joins the firm from Bals & Vogel is a patent, trademark and design attorney with areas of expertise in software, telecommunications, medical devices and mechanical engineering.
Wietzke, who has experience as in-house counsel at Henkel, focuses his practice on obtaining, defending and enforcing patents.
Gerold Fiesser, head of the firm’s Munich office, welcomed Wietzke’s appointment.
“His background in engineering, software, telecommunications and medical devices, as well as his experience in the IP industry will increase our ability to provide a high-level IP service to Mathys & Squire’s UK and international client base,” Fiesser said.
Paul Cozens, a senior partner at the firm, said Wietzke’s experience will be particularly valuable post-Brexit.
“I know that Andreas will fit comfortably into our inclusive and friendly culture, help us to continue to build our presence in Europe and work seamlessly with our teams across the UK and in Europe,” Cozens said.
He added: “Post-Brexit, Andreas’ experience will enhance our significant and recognised expertise within the EU which is crucial to serving our clients worldwide.”
