Marissa Yu is a partner in the San Francisco office of Freshfields, where her practice focuses on intellectual property and technology transactions. She advises on public and private cross-border mergers and acquisitions, licensing arrangements, strategic partnerships and matters involving emerging technologies.
Over the past year, she has advised on a range of high-value, complex transactions for major global clients. These include advising Google on multiple transactions, including its pending acquisition of Wiz for $32 billion and its $4.5 billion transaction with Jio Platforms. She has also advised Celsius on transactions including its $1.8 billion acquisition of Alani Nu and its acquisition of Rockstar and related energy drink arrangements with PepsiCo.
Her work for eBay includes multiple strategic transactions, including its pending $1.2 billion acquisition of Depop from Etsy, acquisitions of Certilogo and TCGplayer, and its simultaneous acquisition of Goldin Auctions, the sale of the eBay Vault to Collectors Universe, and ongoing commercial arrangements with Collectors.
Yu has also advised CrowdStrike on acquisitions including Adaptive Shield, Pangea, Onum, SGNL and Seraphic; Uber on transactions including its pending acquisition of Getir’s delivery business in Turkey; Atlassian on its pending $610 million acquisition of The Browser Company of New York and its acquisition of Cycle; ServiceNow on investments and acquisitions including its investment of up to $750 million in Genesys and acquisitions of Mission Secure and Era Software; and Salesforce on its acquisition of Convergence.ai and pending acquisition of Qualified.
She has also advised BuzzFeed on the sale of Complex Networks to Commerce Media and First We Feast to a subsidiary of Soros Fund Management.
She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the State Bar of California.
