Maria Farrukh Irfan Khan

Maria Farrukh Irfan Khan is managing partner at United Trademark & Patent Services, where she spends most of her time at the firm’s offices in the United Arab Emirates. Her practice focuses on patents, trademarks and litigation, with a particular emphasis on regional portfolio management.

Khan graduated from Wellesley College with a major in biochemistry and a minor in Spanish. She was a Commonwealth Scholar at the University of Cambridge, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts/Master of Arts (Law Tripos). She was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a member of Lincoln’s Inn and is a recipient of the Hardwicke Award.

She previously worked with leading international law firms in London and New York, building experience across intellectual property and litigation practice areas.

Khan is a member of several leading intellectual property organisations, including the International Trademark Association (INTA), Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), and the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA).

She is a speaker at the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) and other international conferences, and has authored articles in various intellectual property publications.

She is also an adjunct professor at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), where she introduced courses on Intellectual Property Law, Competition Law and Start-up Law.
