Mabel Klimt

Mabel Klimt is Managing Partner at ELZABURU and head of the firm’s Media & Entertainment Department. She has extensive experience advising media productions, including film, television, advertising, animation and live shows, providing legal support across intellectual property and financing structures, including tax incentives, public aid, procurement of grants and sponsorship management, as head of a multidisciplinary team.

She advises domestic and multinational companies across the full production lifecycle, from negotiation of option rights through to distribution, as well as licensing and merchandising arrangements. She also provides day-to-day legal advice to companies and professionals across sectors including written press, publishing, photography, design, fashion, music and social media, with particular expertise in image rights and publicity rights management.

Klimt has collaborated on more than 860 cultural and audiovisual projects in 2025 and has managed fiscal investment plans exceeding $20 million.

She is a frequent speaker and lecturer and contributes regularly to academic programmes, including master’s courses in intellectual property, telecommunications law, audiovisual business management and entertainment law at institutions such as Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).

Klimt is the first woman to serve as Managing Partner of ELZABURU, where she also leads initiatives supporting the professional development of women within the firm. Since her appointment, three new female partners have been promoted, and women now represent 73% of the firm’s workforce.

She has participated in numerous initiatives promoting gender equality in law and intellectual property, including events and programmes organised by the Madrid Bar Association and other professional bodies. In 2025, ELZABURU was awarded the ICAM Equality Seal for promoting equal opportunities.
