Mónica Guevara

Mónica Guevara leads one of Latin America’s most technically advanced patent practices, bringing a combination of scientific expertise and legal insight to complex matters.

Since joining OlarteMoure in 2009, Guevara has progressed through a series of leadership roles, serving as patent prosecution coordinator before being appointed director of patents in 2022 and partner in 2023.

Guevara is particularly recognised for her work in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and other science-driven sectors, where her technical background enables her to develop sophisticated patent strategies aligned with clients’ commercial objectives. She has successfully advised both national and multinational companies on complex cases, helping secure valuable IP rights in highly competitive markets.

Guevara is an active participant in the international patent community. She is involved with professional bodies including the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the Association of Intellectual Property Firms (AIPF), and in 2024 was appointed president of the AIPF Patent Committee, recognising her leadership and contribution to the profession.

A committed advocate for inclusion and professional development, Guevara mentors younger practitioners, particularly women with scientific and technical backgrounds pursuing careers in IP.
