Lisa Rosaya is a partner in Manatt, Phelps & Phillips’ New York office and a member of the firm’s Digital and Technology Transactions group.
Her practice centres on helping companies develop and implement global strategies to obtain, manage, protect and monetise intellectual property assets, often at pivotal moments of growth, brand expansion or transformation. She regularly advises clients across the consumer products, cosmetics, fashion and luxury, food and beverage, telecommunications, social media, and media and entertainment sectors, where strong IP strategy is central to commercial success.
Her work includes advising The White Stripes on trademark prosecution and global portfolio management, including expansion of Jack White’s Third Man Records into a multimedia lifestyle brand spanning books, vinyl pressing, retail and performance spaces.
She has also advised LAB Golf Company on the domestic and global expansion of its trademark portfolio, including matters connected to its majority investment by L Catterton, a private equity firm backed by LVMH.
Rosaya has represented Muse Group and Hal Leonard in global trademark portfolio development and enforcement, including support following Muse Group’s acquisition of Hal Leonard in 2023.
Her additional matters include representing the estate of Earl Simmons (DMX) in intellectual property disputes and related proceedings concerning copyright and trademark rights, including litigation over ownership of the estate’s IP assets; advising Seekr Technologies on global trademark portfolio expansion and online enforcement in the artificial intelligence sector; representing Christie Digital Systems in global trademark strategy and portfolio management; and advising Pophouse Entertainment in connection with the financing and acquisition of Kiss’s music catalog, name, image and likeness, including associated trademark and copyright matters.
Rosaya is active in the International Trademark Association (INTA), where she has served on multiple committees including the Commercialisation of Brands Committee and the Right of Publicity Committee, and in leadership roles within the New York State Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section.
She has also contributed to ICANN policy work through participation in the GNSO Registration Abuse Policies Implementation Drafting Team. Rosaya has been recognised as a WIPR Leader, reflecting her contributions to trademark law, brand strategy and the wider IP community.
