Lisa Greenwald-Swire has built a practice as a trademark and copyright attorney at Fish & Richardson since 2008, following earlier roles at Heller Ehrman and Cooley Godward. Greenwald-Swire has led trademark due diligence on landmark transactions, including chipmaker Marvell’s $10 billion acquisition of Inphi and its $1.1 billion acquisition of Innovium, and manages a portfolio of over 2,000 trademarks globally for the company.
She also heads the global prosecution strategy for Cadence Design Systems, overseeing a portfolio of more than 500 active trademarks worldwide, and in the past year alone resolved potential disputes with nine separate parties through limitations, withdrawals, rebranding commitments, and consent agreements. In addition, she involved in enforcement for Sony Interactive Entertainment, protecting the PS and Playstation brands across clearance, prosecution, and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board matters.
A committed advocate for diversity in STEM and the legal profession, Greenwald-Swire mentors women and diverse attorneys through Fish’s EMPOWER Women’s Initiative and the firm’s 1L Diversity Fellowship.
She is a member of MedTech Women, ChIPs, and the Women’s Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (WIPLA), and currently serves on the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Technology Transformation Committee.
She is a longtime member of the Anti-Defamation League’s Board of Directors and Civil Rights Committee for its Bay Area/Northern California region. In her pro bono practice, she provides trademark and copyright counsel to nonprofits focused on breast cancer awareness, renewable energy education, public policy advocacy, and outdoor recreation safety.
