Johanna Flythström’s influence in intellectual property and technology law largely comes from her senior leadership role and the strategic position she holds within the Nordic legal market.

As a partner and head of the Helsinki office at Roschier, she operates within one of the most prominent business law firms in the region, known for high-end work in IP, technology, and complex cross-border transactions.

That role places her at the centre of advising major international and Nordic clients on issues where legal, commercial and regulatory considerations intersect.

Flythström began her career as a patent engineer at Nokia in 2005 and later transitioned into law, obtaining her legal degree in 2009 when she joined Roschier. She has since progressed to partner level and now leads the firm’s Helsinki office.

Flythström has built a strong practice across IP licensing, litigation, and complex transactional work, advising on high-value and precedent-setting matters for major clients including Nokia, Metsä Group, and Neste Oyj. Her work spans both contentious and non-contentious IP matters, with a particular focus on technology-driven industries.

She has also completed significant client secondments, including at GE Healthcare in Helsinki and Nokia Technologies in Sunnyvale, California, giving her deep in-house perspective on global IP strategy and corporate environments.

Flythström plays an active leadership role in the international IP community. Flythström plays an active leadership role in the international IP community.
