With more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property law, Joana de Mattos Siqueira handles all aspects of trademark protection before the Brazilian Patent and Trade Mark Office (INPI), including prosecution, oppositions, and administrative proceedings, with a strong focus on strategic risk mitigation.
She manages trademark portfolios for major international companies and has secured highly reputed status for globally recognised brands including Uber and Lego.
Deeply engaged in the global IP community, Siqueira serves on the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Leadership Committee and Nominating Committee, is an INTA Ambassador, and a former board member of the INTA Foundation.
She served as national delegate of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) from 2021 to 2025 and sits on the Professional Affairs Committee of ECTA. Within Brazil, she co-chairs the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI) and is a member of the association’s council.
A passionate advocate for inclusion, she leads the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at Montaury Pimenta and coordinates the firm’s mentoring programme, Incluir Direito, developed in partnership with CESA.
Siqueira is a member of Women in Law Mentoring and the Women’s Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (WIPLA), and has served more than eight years as vice chair of ASIPI’s Social Responsibility Committee and four years on INTA’s Pro Bono Committee, leading social impact projects across multiple countries.
She is a prolific contributor to the IP literature, covering topics ranging from position marks and mental health in the workplace to the representation of women in the judiciary and imposter syndrome in the legal profession.
