Fiona Teresa Jeffrey is a Malaysian intellectual property practitioner whose influence stems from nearly two decades of experience in patent and industrial design protection, combined with her role as the first woman to be appointed a director at Marks & Clerk Malaysia.

Her career has been defined by technical excellence, leadership, and a commitment to supporting innovation across Malaysia’s research, academic and commercial sectors.

Her client work includes advising prominent organisations and institutions such as the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), BiotechCorp, Genting and Petronas on innovation protection strategies and domestic and international filing programmes.

A member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and the Malaysian Intellectual Property Association (MIPA), Jeffrey is also a strong advocate for inclusion within the profession. Her fluency in English, Malay, Bidayuh and Iban supports broad participation and engagement across a diverse range of stakeholders, helping to ensure that language is not a barrier to accessing IP protection.

She regularly delivers workshops and seminars on patent protection, filing strategies and commercialisation, helping businesses, researchers and innovators better understand the strategic value of IP.
