Bernardita Dittus has more than 20 years’ experience in complex litigation and intellectual property matters.
Dittus began her career as an associate in the litigation practice at Alessandri & Cía., a renowned law firm in Santiago, Chile, where she represented clients before civil and arbitration courts.
After completing her LLM in Intellectual and Industrial Property and New Technologies in Madrid in 2012, she joined Carey, one of Chile’s largest law firms, where she created and developed the firm’s IP litigation practice and advised global clients on artistic and industrial protections.
In 2019, Dittus joined the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) as deputy director of Trademarks, Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin.
In this capacity, she contributed to legislative discussions on key IP matters and participated in the review and development of trademark registration and maintenance criteria.
She is also a professor of Intellectual Property and Commercial Law at Universidad de los Andes in Chile.
In 2021, Dittus founded her own boutique firm, EPIC Legal, to focus on strategic litigation and the defence of creative rights.
She has extensive experience advising companies across multiple sectors, including arts, design, editorial, cosmetics, food, and services.
She has also advised companies in the agricultural, fishing, and mining industries.
In 2025, Dittus co-founded the ‘Women in IP Chile’ association to empower and mentor female leadership across the innovation ecosystem.
