Aimee Gessner

Aimee Gessner is a leading figure in global brand protection within the automotive sector. She serves as senior legal counsel in the Intellectual Property Law Department of the BMW Group, where she is based in Munich and oversees trademark prosecution and enforcement across North America for the company’s principal vehicle brands: BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, and BMW Motorrad.

With more than two decades of experience within BMW’s intellectual property team, Gessner has played a key role in protecting and strengthening some of the world’s most recognisable automotive brands. Her expertise extends beyond trademarks to include design patents, copyright, IP licensing, domain name disputes, social media strategy, e-commerce enforcement, and anti-counterfeiting initiatives, both online and offline. Her work reflects the increasingly complex intersection between brand protection, digital commerce, and global consumer engagement.

Gessner is admitted as an attorney-at-law in New York, a solicitor of England and Wales, and is a foreign member of the Munich Chamber of Attorneys. She regularly represents BMW before the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
