Honigman adds IP partners from Kirkland and Harness

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn has bulked up its IP department with hires from Kirkland & Ellis and Harness, Dickey & Pierce.

Dennis Abdelnour, who joins the firm from Kirkland, will be based in Honigman’s Chicago office.

His practice focuses on IP litigation including inter partes reviews and complex patent litigation, across industries such as semiconductors, smart phones, automotive parts, and pharmaceuticals.

Over his career, Abdelnour has represented clients before the district courts, the US International Trade Commission, and the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Scott Barnett, from Harness, will be based in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office in Michigan.

He has expertise in software, electrical, and mechanical matters involving patents, trademarks and copyright. Barnett also has experience in trade secrets litigation.

Both lawyers join the firm as partners.

Jonathan O’Brien, chair of Honigman’s IP department, said Abdelnour and Barnett’s “deep knowledge of the IP landscape” will bolster the firm’s client offering.
