DLA Piper names entertainment co-chair
DLA Piper has added David Markman, previously a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, to its Los Angeles office.
Markman joins DLA Piper as co-chair of the firm’s entertainment transactions practice and as a partner in the media, sport and entertainment sector, as well as the IP and technology practice.
Over his career, Markman has represented entertainment companies in all aspects of their business activities, including brand collaborations, transactions, and the integration of branding into TV programmes and films.
His clients include traditional production companies as well as new media clients.
Before working at Greenberg Traurig, Markman served as a telecoms policy specialist for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, an agency of the US Department of Commerce.
Frank Ryan, global and US co-chair of the firm’s IP and technology practice, said: “David's well-rounded practice and his experience handling a wide variety of matters for both traditional and new media companies will be a tremendous advantage to our clients in the entertainment industry.”
