Berkeley Research Group appoints IP practice leader
Berkeley Research Group (BRG), a strategic advisory and consulting firm, has hired Jeffery Stec to lead its IP practice.
Stec joins the Chicago office and will also work as its managing director and co-leader of its economics and damages community.
For the past 17 years, Stec has worked in the fields of IP and antitrust as an economist and a survey researcher.
His economic analysis has focused on the value of IP as well as the economic damages resulting from patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, false advertising and counterfeit claims.
His surveys have been used to establish findings including whether products’ names or trade dress are distinctive, confusing or generic.
Stec’s work has focused on numerous industries, and he has appeared in federal and state courts, at the US International Trade Commission and in US and international arbitrations in order to testify in support of his work.
“BRG offers an exciting opportunity to continue to conduct my economic and survey research with a firm that is a leader in economic consulting with strong experience across a broad range of industries and disciplines,” Stec said.
BRG’s headquarters are in Emeryville, California, and the firm has offices across the US and in locations in Asia, Latin America and the UK, among others.
