Akerman expands LA litigation team
US firm Akerman has welcomed two litigation partners to its Los Angeles office.
Caroline Mankey previously chaired the IP, media and entertainment group at San Francisco-based firm Sedgwick. As a trial lawyer she frequently represents those affiliated with the film industry including actors, comedians and artists, as well as production companies and motion picture studios.
She also has experience in the fashion and technology sectors, and focuses her practice on copyright, trademark and design patent disputes.
Kanika Corley, also from Sedgwick, represents clients in the media, entertainment and sports sectors, focussing her practice on commercial disputes and IP litigation. She has advised fashion brands, wine manufacturers, athletes and multimedia companies.
Lawrence Rochefort, chair of the firm’s litigation practice group, said: “Caroline and Kanika are highly skilled lawyers who bring important depth to our intellectual property and commercial litigation team in Los Angeles and nationwide.
“We look forward to making even greater contributions to our clients through their comprehensive knowledge of the entertainment, arts, fashion, retail, sports and technology sectors.”
