K&L Gates commercial litigator takes advertising expertise to Venable

New Venable partner focuses practice on consumer class action and product-focused litigation | Background includes handling complex claims in food and beverage, life sciences and cosmetics industries.

Venable has hired Caitlin Blanche as a partner in its commercial litigation practice, with her new role based at the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Blanche, who spent 12 years at K&L Gates, is experienced in handling complex advertising and regulatory matters as well as bet-the-company litigation.

Her clients have included top manufacturers and distributors of food and beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other equipment, which she has represented in false advertising, unfair competition and other fraud-based claims.

At K&L Gates, Blanche was co-lead of commercial litigation and chair of the consumer products and beauty and wellness practices. Her move to Venable was announced on Monday (March 25).

She is actively involved in environmental social governance (ESG) issues, including tackling greenwashing and ‘greenhushing’, and is considered a thought leader in consumer class action litigation.

Belinda Martinez Vega, co-chair of the commercial litigation California practice group, said: “Caitlin is highly regarded in a number of core areas that are meaningful to our clients, such as food and beverage, life sciences, and cosmetics.

“She will be an invaluable addition to our growing Venable team on the West Coast.”

Blanche commented: “I am thrilled to be joining a firm that has a deep bench of offerings in the areas that matter most to my clients.

“Partnering with subject-matter experts and leveraging other unique firm offerings will not just help me bring in new clients, but will allow me to provide even better service to existing ones.”
