UK Patents Rankings 2026

Osborne Clarke

Firm overview:

Technology disputes continue to define Osborne Clarke’s patent litigation practice, reflecting the firm’s wider strength advising innovative businesses across software, digital infrastructure and telecommunications. Increased visibility in FRAND litigation and standards-related disputes has strengthened its contentious offering. Technology litigators work closely with colleagues on the non-contentious side to help clients manage patent issues alongside broader regulatory and commercial challenges.

Team overview:

Head of IP Disputes Arty Rajendra advises clients across FRAND, SEP and competition-related patent litigation. Her notable representations include acting for Unwired Planet in its landmark UK Supreme Court SEP and FRAND licensing dispute against Huawei; representing Optis in its FRAND dispute against Apple; and acting for Avanci in its patent licensing and jurisdiction dispute with Tesla.

Trevor Crosse specialises in advising clients in the life sciences and healthcare sectors, with particular experience acting for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in complex patent disputes. A peer who worked closely with Crosse on a patent-related matter says they found him to be “switched on; hardworking; on top of the technology. He was definitely a good person to have on our side of the courtroom”.
