Withers & Rogers expands Munich office
European IP law firm, Withers & Rogers, has moved to larger offices in Munich, as a response to a “growing demand for specialist IP services in Europe”, the firm said.
Withers & Rogers said the growing demand had come from companies based in Europe as well as international clients seeking IP protection in Germany.
The firm first opened an office in Munich in 2014. Since then, it now employs 14 IP professionals.
Adrian Tombling, partner and patent attorney, who heads up the firm’s Munich office, said the decision to move is a “testament to the team’s success over the past five years”.
“We are looking forward to continuing to provide excellent services to clients in Germany, and those seeking access to the European market, from our new offices here in the Schwabing district of Munich,” Tombling said.
The firm’s chairman, Karl Barnfather, said it was “essential for IP firms to have a strong foothold in Europe”.
“With this expansion to bigger premises, we are investing in our future in Germany and continental Europe and ensuring that we can continue to give our clients the high-quality services they require.
He said the move was also in anticipation of the unitary patent system, which is expected to be implemented in the near future. As part of the new system, there will be three Unified Patent Courts in Europe, based in Munich, Paris and London.
“Consequently, the new Munich office will be well placed to support the firm’s clients in the future,” Barnfather said.
