Ulmer & Berne expands Chicago office

Ulmer & Berne LLP has expanded its Chicago office with the addition of Stacy A. Baim as counsel in the firm’s IP and technology group. She joins Ulmer & Berne from Jones Day.

Baim focuses her practice on a range of IP matters, including litigation and transactional matters. She works with clients to manage their IP assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, and she handles litigation matters related to all of these, as well as unfair competition. She has represented clients across the US in complex litigation involving varied technologies ranging from computer software and semiconductors to patio furniture and household products.

Baim also counsels clients and handles various transactional matters, including the negotiation of licences, global trademark clearance, brand development, trademark prosecution and portfolio management.

Baim earned her JD from the University of Michigan Law School. She also holds a BS in engineering, focused in civil and environmental engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan.

“As a seasoned attorney with more than 12 years of experience, Stacy significantly enhances our robust IP practice,” said Michael Switzer, partnerin- charge of Ulmer & Berne’s Chicago office.

The addition of Baim continues the rapid growth of Ulmer & Berne’s Chicago office, which has expanded from three attorneys in 2009 to 22. The firm has recruited experienced attorneys from well known Chicago and national law firms, and has introduced and enhanced its service offerings to meet the growing needs of its clients.
