TrademarkNow launches free TM search tool

Trademark management platform TrademarkNow says it has become the first major vendor to launch a free preliminary trademark searching tool.

The release, dated Monday, September 24, said the tool has been launched in response to the legal industry’s “growing need to do more with less”.

It offers users an unlimited volume of screening searches of two key registries, the US Patent and Trademark Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The tool also lets users filter their results by registry or Nice classification.

As it provides “instantaneous” results, TrademarkNow’s search tool allows users to incorporate the preliminary screening straight into the naming and branding process.

Mikeal Kolehmainen, CEO of TrademarkNow, said that most trademark practitioners have developed their own way of checking for marks, but this can take up extensive amounts of time and resources.

“It was a critical issue for us to solve,” Kolehmainen explained. “Getting here has been a long and rewarding journey and we are continuing strongly on our path of improving the lives of trademark professionals around the world.”
