Squire Patton Boggs appoints former Walgreens Boots IP head

Squire Patton Boggs has appointed the former head of IP at Walgreens Boots Alliance as a partner in its IP and technology practice.

Kerry Lee spent 12 years managing the company’s portfolio of more than 2,000 trademarks, including Walgreens, Boots, Clearasil and Nurofen.

Walgreens Boots Alliance is an American company that owns Walgreens, Boots and a number of pharmaceutical manufacturing, wholesale and distribution companies.

Lee has experience in IP enforcement and e-commerce matters in relation to trademark, design, patent, copyright, domain name and other IP matters across Europe, Southeast Asia and North America.

“Given the uncertainties surrounding Brexit and global challenges to brand management, Kerry’s skills and creativity will help to maintain our commitment to the highest level of client service. We are very pleased to welcome him to the team,” said David Elkins, global head of the IP and technology practice.

Lee added that he is “delighted to be rejoining private practice” that complements his experience in the retail and wholesale sectors.

He added: “My in-house experience has given me a deep understanding of the challenges that IP counsel face and I look forward to putting those insights to use for clients around the world.”
