Singapore launches IP support team for businesses expanding abroad
The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore ( IPOS) has launched a new subsidiary, IPOS International, to help businesses commercialise their IP in the country, and abroad.
The launch was announced today, August 27, by the minister for trade and industry, Chan Chun Sing, at the opening ceremony of the country’s IP Week.
IPOS International aims to help enterprises and industries go global with their intangible assets, Sing said.
According to IPOS, the subsidiary will bring together more than 100 IP experts with strengths in IP strategy and management, patent search and analysis, and IP education and training, to help enterprises commercialise their IP and intangible assets in Singapore.
Daren Tang, chairman of IPOS International, said the subsidiary will “work closely with partners in government and the private sector, in Singapore and overseas, to offer holistic solutions to innovative enterprises as they scale up into the region and beyond.”
The IPOS said the subsidiary will also provide “customised programmes and advisory services” tailored to specific needs.
Additionally, the subsidiary will offer businesses access to a free IP management tool, which, within ten minutes, can provide key insights on potential IP gaps and risks, as well as tips and recommendations for further actions.
“Together, IPOS and IPOS International will deliver value to enterprises and industries by building global networks with local and foreign innovation communities, and growing IP expertise and manpower for Singapore and beyond,” IPOS said.
