Patent counsel joins Buchanan from Foley

Andrew Cheslock has joined Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney as counsel, after spending more than a decade at Foley & Lardner.

Cheslock’s practice focuses on inter partes reviews, on behalf of both patent owners and petitioners, and he also handles patent litigation and US International Trade Commission (ITC) investigations.

Of his appointment, he said: “I am eager to integrate with the team and continue the firm’s presence in the increasingly popular dispute-resolution forum of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)."

Based in the firm’s Alexandria office, in Virginia, Cheslock will assist clients in the electronics, mechanics, and software industries. He has particular expertise in matters pertaining to operating systems, microprocessors, database management systems, semiconductors, and network security.

Todd Walters, chair of the firm’s patent office litigation department, said: “Andrew brings a wealth of experience in patent office litigation, IP litigation and ITC matters—areas of great importance to our US and international clients.

“We are pleased to add Andrew to our already deep bench at a time when PTAB litigation filings exceed filings in all other forums,” he said.
