Orrick promotes 3 IP lawyers to partnership
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has promoted 17 lawyers to its partnership, including three IP litigators: Betsy Lee, Robert Uriarte and Jason Yu.
The 2020 partner class reflects the firm’s focus on serving the technology and innovation, energy and infrastructure, and finance sectors. Of the partner class, 60% are from diverse groups and/or women.
IP litigator Lee is based in San Francisco and focuses her practice on trademark and copyright law.
She counsels clients in the technology, financial services and life sciences industries and has experience in the selection and clearance of brands, the strategic management and prosecution of global trademark portfolios, and trademark licensing and assignment issues.
Based in Silicon Valley, Uriarte litigates cases in the copyright, computer trespass and digital crimes domains, and counsels clients on IP protection and digital rights management strategies. He focuses his practice on software, internet law and cybersecurity matters.
Yu, also based in Silicon Valley, draws on his electrical engineering background to advise clients on complex patent litigation matters and inter partes proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
He counsels technology companies on matters in areas including semiconductor manufacturing, graphics processors, information technology, circuit design and satellite communications.
Mitch Zuklie, Orrick’s chairman and CEO, said: “We are thrilled to welcome these superb lawyers to our partnership. This class reflects our global sector focus, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and emphasis on innovation. We are fortunate to have them as future leaders of our firm.”
