Michael Best adds senior counsel to IP group in North Carolina
Michael Best has expanded its IP practice Group in North Carolina with the addition of a senior counsel.
Barnard Brown, who was previously a senior associate at Brinks Gilson & Lione, will handle patent issues for clients in the life science, biotech and pharmaceutical industries. He also advises on strategies to protect and commercialise IP.
Brown has prior experience in inter partes review defence, as well as representing clients before the Food and Drug Administration, the US Patent and Trademark Office and Federal Circuit courts.
The appointment comes after the firm recently acquired Felton Banks. From here, the firm also hired the firm’s co-founders as two senior counsel for its litigation practice group (Adam Banks) and labor and employment practice group (Ashley Felton).
David Krutz, managing partner of Michael Best, welcomed the appointments.
“The Raleigh market has experienced significant growth in the pharmaceutical, biotech and aerospace industries,” he said.
He added: “Ashley, Adam and Bernard have deep roots in the region and the mix of IP, startup, labor and employment, and litigation will be a great asset for our clients.”
