Marshall, Gerstein & Borun unveils new patent hires

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun has hired five new patent specialists, including three attorneys, to be based in the firm’s Chicago office.

In a press release issued yesterday, April 3, the firm confirmed that Joseph Saltiel, Thomas Burns, John Lucas, Peter Melsa and Serge Minin had joined in an expansion of the IP specialist’s patent practice.

Saltiel has represented clients in litigation before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the US International Trade Commission. He has also provided counsel on matters including licensing and commercial partnerships.

Burns’ practice is focused on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. He has represented pharmaceutical companies and generics manufacturers in both biologics litigation and inter partes reviews before the USPTO.

Lucas specialises in defending clients from patent infringement claims. He previously served as an attorney at Lucas Law, also based in Chicago.

Melsa represents clients in the electrical, software and computer technology sectors. According to the press release, he owns 24 US patents.

Minin joins as a technology specialist to assist in prosecuting technology patents.
