Loeb & Loeb appoints Womble Bond PTAB head
Loeb & Loeb has hired the chair of Womble Bond Dickinson ’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) practice group to lead the Californian firm’s own PTAB group.
IP litigator Brent Babcock will join the firm as partner, bringing with him nearly three decades of experience in patent litigation.
He has significant experience in PTAB trials and other post-grant proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has also represented clients before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Mark Waddell, chair of Loeb & Loeb’s patent litigation and counselling department, said: “Brent is a veteran in his field and is consistently ranked as one of the top IP lawyers in California.
“His extensive experience, skill and familiarity with the PTAB will make him a strong asset to our clients across multiple industries.”
Babcock represents clients across various technology industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cellular communications and electronic gaming.
Prior to Womble Bond Dickinson, he was a partner at Knobbe Martens Olsen & Bear.
“I am very impressed by Loeb & Loeb’s technical bench strength, emphasis on top-quality work and top-to-bottom firm collegiality,” said Babcock.
“These qualities are an important component of my practice, and I am eager to become a member of such a talented team.”
