Lathrop Gage strengthens Los Angeles office
US law firm Lathrop Gage announced yesterday that it has appointed Andrew Choung and Erica Van Loon as partners to its IP litigation practice in Los Angeles.
Choung and Van Loon both previously worked at Glaser Weil.
Cameron Garrison, managing partner at Lathrop Gage, said the new appointments form part of the law firm’s growth strategy in markets including Los Angeles.
“The strength of our IP practice is well known, and we are excited to add two extremely talented and well-respected attorneys like Andrew Choung and Erica Van Loon to the group,” he said. “With their addition to our rapidly-growing Los Angeles office, our IP expertise now stretches from coast to coast.”
Choung primarily focuses on high-tech, patent litigation and developing licensing and monetisation programmes. In addition, he handles Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings such as inter partes reviews.
Choung’s clients include Korean universities, research institutes and companies.
Van Loon focuses her practice on copyright, trademark, trade secret and patent litigation. She also helps clients to create brand strategies to protect their IP and digital rights, as well as assisting them with technology transfer and licence agreements.
She represents clients across several industries including media, apparel and footwear, toys and video games, consumer electronics, personal care and food and beverages.
