Latham and Watkins welcomes ex-CIA engineer as partner

Latham and Watkins has announced that IP litigator Tara Elliott is joining the firm’s Washington, DC office.

Elliott will join the firm as a partner in the litigation and trial department and as a member of the IP litigation practice. Her clients are from industries such as technology, retail, and manufacturing.

As a trial lawyer Elliott’s practice focuses on high-value IP proceedings involving patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. She advises clients on matters relating to IP infringement, corporate disputes, and contractual breaches.

Elliott brings an insight into government intelligence and computer engineering to the firm, having begun her career at the CIA as a computer engineer.

David Callahan, global co-chair of the firm’s IP litigation practice, said: “Tara embodies the hallmark strengths of our IP litigation team, which include trial prowess, technical knowhow, and superb client service.”

Elliott said she looks forward to being part of Latham and Watkins and “helping clients navigate their most complex IP disputes”.
