Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton is born

Kilpatrick Stockton LLP and Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP will merge on January 1, 2011. The combined firm will be known as Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP.

William Dorris, a co-managing partner at Kilpatrick Stockton, will serve as chair of the new firm. Diane Prucino, also a co-managing partner at Kilpatrick Stockton, will continue in the role at the new firm alongside Maureen Sheehy, currently chair of Townsend and Townsend.

The merged firm will have approximately 650 attorneys in 17 offices around the world. Kilpatrick Townsend will also have one of the largest intellectual property practices in the world with approximately 300 IP attorneys.

Maureen Sheehy, who will be co-managing partner at Kilpatrick Townsend, said: “Townsend is a renowned marketplace leader in its core strength of intellectual property and will enhance Kilpatrick Stockton’s already exceptional scope of client services.”
