ITC to probe Tineco over Bissell mop and vacuum patents

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has launched an investigation following a complaint issued by US cleaning devices company Bissell alleging the patent infringement of its products.

The agency issued a notice of investigation against Chinese companies Tineco, TEK (HongKong) Science & Technology; and Tineco Intelligent in Seattle on Thursday, March 3.

The investigation is based on a complaint filed by Bissell and its subsidiary, Bissell Homecare, both based in Grand Rapids in Michigan, on February 2, 2022.

The company seeks to block US imports of a range of Tineco Intelligent Tech’s products that both mop and vacuum.

Bissell sued Tineco in February,  both at  the ITC and in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, holding that four products from Tineco’s iFloor line and four from its Floor One line of devices infringe five Bissell patents, all issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office last year.

The complaint alleges violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, and requested that the USITC issue a limited exclusion order and a permanent cease and desist order.

The complaint, as supplemented, alleged infringement of certain claims of US patent numbers: 11,076,735, 11,071,428; 11,122,949; 11,096,541, and 10,820,769.
