Husch Blackwell has welcomed a team of attorneys from boutique firm, Patterson Thuente in Minneapolis.
The expansion includes 11 attorneys, accompanied by nearly 20 law clerks and business professionals, set to officially join the firm on January 1, 2024.
The integration will more than double the size of the Minneapolis office—which opened in May this year.
Paul Eberle, chief executive of Husch Blackwell, highlighted the “Twin Cities” as a “priority growth market” for the firm.
“The Patterson Thuente attorneys have a strong reputation and will provide our new and existing clients a full suite of IP offerings,” he added.
Among the additions to Husch Blackwell are Jeffer Ali, Daidre Burgess, and Tom Dickson, who will join as partners.
James Patterson and David Cleveland will join as of counsel, while Mike Gates, Paul Haun, and Nicholas Kuhlmann as senior counsel.
Finally, Scott Meehan, Richard Sutton, and John Wittmer will join as attorneys.
Dickson, Patterson Thuente’s managing partner, highlighted Husch Blackwell’s reputation in sectors such as food systems industries, healthcare and life sciences.
The move is part of Husch Blackwell's broader expansion strategy, marked by the addition of over 100 attorneys firmwide in 2023, including 20 to the IP practice team and seven in Minneapolis.
Catherine Hanaway, chair of Husch Blackwell, highlighted the significance of Minneapolis as a “hub for innovation across diverse industries”.
“Adding patent, licensing, trademark, and copyright capabilities enhances the value we bring to clients. The firm is looking to expand its space and considering several options while remaining in the downtown area,” she added.
