Hogan Lovells launches AI and technology brand

Its Eltemate software tools will offer smart databases, e-discovery and apps under one brand | Move follows similar legal tech services offered by A&O, EIP.

Hogan Lovells has launched Eltemate, a technology brand that unifies the firm’s legal and AI software tools.

The firm said Eltemate allows clients to access “high-end digital solutions” to address legal challenges across various areas of law.

The technology brand is the latest in a series of products created by law firms this year, often promoting an AI element.

Hogan Lovells’ Eltemate is described as a technology brand with a large product portfolio aimed at easing clients’ legal needs.

The firm’s CEO, Miguel Zaldivar, said Eltemate will ”provide a one-stop-shop for clients and enable us to unify the development, management and marketing of our legal tech products and consulting services”.

Eltemate will “encompass and develop legal tech and AI solutions as well as other products including smart databases, e-discovery tools, deal rooms, apps, and legal tech consulting services”, said the firm’s press release.

The brand’s portfolio includes analysis tools such as eDiscovery, AI-driven regulatory updates trained in multiple languages and industries, and reporting tools.

Competition over law firm tech tools

UK firm EIP announced the launch of its new AI software, Codiphy on May 9. Codiphy provides specialist advice on commercial law and IP to clients in relation to software, data, and AI.

Codiphy founder and the firm’s head of digital, Jerome Spaargaren, said Codiphy was “another example of EIP’s innovation in the legal sector”.

EIP’s head of commercial IP, Mark Lubbock, said:“Through Codify our team will be able to give clients, from start-ups to SMEs to large blue-chip companies, the practical and commercial advice they need to protect and exploit their IP assets in this increasingly regulated market.”

Earlier this year, Allen & Overy announced its partnership with AI platform, Harvey. Harvey can assist with work including  contract analysis, due diligence, litigation, and regulatory compliance.

AI is and will continue to transform the legal industry, streamlining processes, creating innovative solutions, and providing faster, efficient services for clients.
