Hogan Lovells hires Finnegan partner
Hogan Lovells has expanded its IP practice with the addition of trademark lawyer Julia Anne Matheson as partner.
Matheson, who specialises in portfolio management and disputes, has joined the firm’s Washington, DC office.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Matheson spent nearly 24 years with IP firm Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner.
She focuses on trademark and unfair competition law including trademark clearance, counselling and prosecution, global brand development and portfolio management. Her other areas of expertise lay in due diligence, licensing, social media, and domain name disputes.
Matheson said that she has worked with Hogan Lovells in the past through mutual clients and organisations.
She added: “The opportunity to join a premiere trademark practice with a broad, global reach while also expanding their domestic footprint is thrilling and I’m eager to hit the ground running.”
Matheson represents international clients in numerous industries including consumer goods, personal care products, fashion, entertainment and pharmaceuticals.
“Julia is one of the heavy hitters and most recognisable names in the trademark field,” said Celine Crowson, head of Hogan Lovells’ IP, media and technology practice in the Americas.
“Combining her standing in the market with her relationships and familiarity with many of our existing clients makes Julia an ideal addition to our trademark practice.”
