Greenberg Glusker announces new IP leader
US law firm Greenberg Glusker named Charles Shephard (pictured) as head of its intellectual property group on Wednesday.
“The firm’s intellectual property and employment practices are central to the full-service counsel we offer individual and corporate clients,” said Greenberg Glusker managing partner Stephen Smith. He added that Shephard “will build upon the foundational strengths and continue the successful integration and development of our expanded resources and talent.”
Associate chair Jesse Saivar, who specialises in transactional matters and licensing, will support Shephard in his new role.
Greenberg Glusker’s IP group prosecutes and defends trademark and copyright actions for industries including entertainment, technology and fashion. The practice focuses on trademark administration, Internet and new media, right of publicity and defamation matters, and also enforces trade secrets.
Shephard specialises in entertainment law and for 25 years has represented Toho Co Ltd, which holds the IP rights to the character Godzilla. He chaired Greenberg Glusker’s litigation group from 1993 to 2005.
Greenberg Glusker has approximately 100 lawyers based in Los Angeles.
