EIP reshuffle sees litigation head move to new role

Winning litigator in Unwired Planet case takes up chairman position | New co-heads of UK litigation practice named | Move is a ‘natural evolution’ for the firm, says CEO Magnus Hallin.

EIP has announced changes to its leadership, with the current head of litigation, Gary Moss, becoming chairman of the firm.

Litigation partners Andrew Sharples and Robert Lundie Smith will become co-heads of the UK litigation team, as of April 1.

Moss, an IP lawyer with more than 30 years’ experience, joined EIP in 2011 to establish its litigation practice. Over the past 12 years, he has established a strong reputation for complex patent litigation, cemented by the firm’s landmark UK Supreme Court victory in 2020 for its clients Unwired Planet and Conversant Wireless, which has had implications worldwide for the licensing of telecoms IP.

Moss’ move to chairman will see him “help guide EIP through its next phase of development while continuing to be involved in case strategy and high-level casework for clients”, said the firm in a statement.

He will also work on strategic matters for EIP as well as talent development.
