EIP hires former Bird & Bird senior counsel
IP law firm EIP has expanded its German office with the addition of a partner focused on patent litigation.
Florian Schmidt-Bogatzky, who was previously senior counsel at Bird & Bird, will join the firm in August.
Schmidt-Bogatzky, whose work focuses primarily on electronics patent litigation, has worked on landmark cases for Nokia and Broadcom relating to both implementation and standard-essential patent (SEP) disputes.
He also recently represented child seat manufacturer HTS Besafe in several patent infringement disputes.
With the addition of Schmidt-Bogatzky, the firm’s German office now has three partners and three associates.
Christof Höhne, head of the German office, who previously worked with Schmidt-Bogatzky at Bird & Bird said the new partner’s skill set makes him the “perfect addition to the German EIP team”.
Gary Moss, head of EIP legal, welcomed Schmidt-Bogatzky to the team.
“I am delighted to have Florian join the firm with his extensive patent litigation and SEP experience. Florian’s hire is another example of the firm’s recent growth and commitment to the German market,” Moss said.
