Duane Morris names managing partner in Silicon Valley

Duane Morris has named Manita Rawat as the managing partner of its Silicon Valley office.

Rawat has a technical background in mathematics and concentrates her practice on computer science, aerospace engineering, and biochemistry. She also has expertise in dealing with mechanical and software technologies, and deals with patent, copyright, and trademark litigation.

She has gained experience in patent preparation and prosecution, and post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews and re-examinations. Rawat advises clients on patentability, invalidity, and portfolio management, as well as licensing and transactional matters.

She succeeds Karineh Khachatourian, who was a founding partner of the firm’s Silicon Valley office in 2013.

Rawat said it is an honour to be chosen to lead the office.

Matthew Taylor, CEO and chairman of the firm, said Rawat has the leadership qualities to “help Duane Morris continue to realise our strategic vision in this critical high-tech centre, as well as our goal of broadening the Duane Morris brand throughout California”.
